Our plein air outing in Benicia

By Barbara Nebeker

Our “mystery outing" for June began at the McDonald’s parking lot in Benicia, then we got in our cars and followed our plein air host to the historic Benicia City Cemetery. It was actually quite a pleasant surprise! This fascinating place, hidden in a quiet residential area of Benicia, has beautiful views of the bay and the Benicia-Martinez Bridge, with winding paths to see interesting headstones, many of which are 150 years old.

Eight artists found each found the perfect spot under the shade of trees that sheltered us from the heat. We all enjoyed the quiet, peaceful and picturesque surroundings.
