Concord Art Association and the City
of Concord wrapped up the Utility Box Art Pilot Project with public events on September
12th and 13th. At the start of the Thursday Music and Market concert, Vice-Mayor
Tim McGallian introduced the eleven artists who created the amazing art for the
project. On stage were Chris Ball, Janet Brown, Pat Calabro, Melissa Claros,
Carissa Fei, Jennifer Granat, Denise Hillman, Renaye Johnson, Thea Jue, Samineh
Perryman, and Sharon Petersen. Then on Friday afternoon, the Greater Concord
Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting at which Mayor Carlyn Obringer
presented to our association a proclamation which acknowledged CAA's role in
the project. Thank you to all the members who attended the events to support
the artists!
The Board of Directors and the
Utility Box Committee thank all of the volunteers who helped make our first
public art project a success for the artists, CAA, and our community. And for
those members who have not yet seen the boxes, please take a stroll around
Todos Santos Plaza! Click below to see pix of the event.
